About Fine Art
Pose this question to anyone, "what is art?" and you will get a myriad of different answers. Like many other words in our current vernacular, the meaning of the word "art" has become quite ambiguous. Ask a person what is truth? What is right, or, wrong. For the same reasons that you will get many different answers to these questions, you will get many different answers to the question "what is art?"

As stated in most dictionaries, "Art is skill in performance." Art is not simply creative expression. Creativity without skill is simply creativity. I state that "Art happens when skill employs creativity." We must develop our skill by increasing our knowledge and practicing that which we learn.

The debate over what is art, and what is artistic expression, will not end here. However, when we preface art with the word "fine" we enter into another realm. The realm of discrimination and distinction. I will leave the clearer definition of "fine" up to you.

History has proven that great art is produced when skillful craftsmen acquire and employ knowledge (of their craft) using their God given creativity.
