Paul Dinwiddie Fine Art
Biography

Paul Robert Dinwiddie was born in Sacramento, California. He and his beautiful wife Elaine (of 27 years) have four children and five grandchildren (with one on the way.) After spending the first 48 years of his life on the West Coast he moved across this Great Country to Lynchburg, Virginia, where he now lives with his wife and their three youngest children.

Showing a knack for drawing at the early age of three, Paul began working with oil paints at age ten. "I have loved everything about it since that day; the smell of linseed oil and the touch of the paint - stroking the canvas with a quality brush - the look of the paint when skillfully applied - whether thick or thin. I love to paint."

Paul first supported himself though his art when he was in his teens, selling paintings and teaching art. "Through my teens and into my twenties my dad would say, 'when are you going to get a real job?' So at 27 I landed a job with a large corporation and gave it fifteen years of my life. I worked my way into management and learned many valuable skills that benefit me to this day."

In the fall of 1996 (with Elaine's encouragement) Paul left the corporate world to focus once again "full-time" on Fine Art. Paul's paintings captured the grandeur of the Northwest landscape and the region's expansive skies. His work gained representation by notable galleries in Redding, CA, Seattle, WA, Portland and Bend, OR.

During this time Paul would except an occasional portrait commission. This led to his decision to make portraiture his primary focus at the coming of the new millennia. Since that time Paul's portraits have excelled and gained notoriety.

He is now recognized as a masterful portrait painter, painting dozens of men women and children. His commissions include politicians, federal judges, and such prominent religious leaders as the late Dr. Jerry Falwell.

Paul has accumulated over 28 years of knowledge and expertise in the field of Fine Art. His love for the visual arts led to a natural progression into the new world of computer arts. He is expanding his knowledge in this area by acquiring a degree from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco with a concentration on Computer Arts, New Media.
